Associations and Accomplishments

National Honors Society | Leadership & Collaboration: In the National Honors Society I took the responsibility of organizing many events for the group. These events included blood drives as well as visits to local elementary schools to interact and inspire the next generation of scholars.

​

Camp Counsellor at Camp McYak | Problem Solving & Communication: I have volunteered with Camp McYak since I was a child, the camp is an opportunity for children with special needs to interact with one another and enjoy the outdoors. Here, I accompany a camper for the time they spend at camp help them navigate and explore their surroundings.

​

Construction Engineering | Leadership & Agility: During my time involved with engineering I was in charge of multiple job sites and overseeing the work of dozens of individuals. Every project taught me very different, but equally invaluable lessons. Some taught me the importance of a leader knowing when step in and resolve an issue as opposed to when letting the conflicting parties reach an agreement would be the most beneficial outcome. Others taught me how to manage workers hours and how to be efficient in material use to stay within budget constraints. Most importantly though, they all taught me how to conduct myself in dangerous situations, how to operate on high risk job sights and how to correctly mange construction crews.

Teaching AP Computer Science at East Jackson | Communication & Conveying Ideas: In my last year of high school, I was offered the opportunity to spend a class period teaching AP computer science on account of my AP score in the class the previous year. Taking this opportunity allowed me to learn skills more valuable than programming. I learned to efficiently communicate and convey complex ideas to individuals who had no prior understanding of the concepts.

Executive Board of MSU LA Club | Communication and Collaboration: In my third year in the Landscape Architecture program at MSU I was elected to the financial chair of the Executive Board. In this position I collaborated with local businesses to organize fundraisers. In addition to fundraising I also orchestrate the purchasing and distribution of the club apparel. Aside from financial duties I aided in conducting meetings and participating in all board activities.

Work Experience

HNTB Engineering                                                                                                                                                                                  July 2021 - August 2024

-Civil Engineering Internship-

Independently Managed Projects including the segmented reconstruction of I-94 and Kilgore Service Rd in Kalamazoo as well as the construction of the off-road testing facility at the ACM testing grounds in Ypsilanti. These projects required me to:

  • Create on the spot solutions to problems and effectively communicate them multiple construction crews so they can maintain workflow

  • Keep track of and maintain safety barriers on site

  • Work collaboratively with upwards of 20 engineers to create full site progress reports on I-94

  • Independently oversee the construction of an autonomous vehicle testing grounds.

Jackson County Department of Transportation                                                                                                                                        June 2019 - July 2021

-Civil Engineering Internship-

Independently Managed Projects including the reconstruction of the Vandercook School District infrastructure and the Cornell Bridge. These projects required me to:

  • Multitask, overseeing several projects to completion.

  • Communicate with construction managers, engineers, and worksite leaders effectively.

  • Proactively assess progress and offer hands-on assistance when needed.

  • Independently complete reports including project status, safety reports, and crew assessments.

Subtly Iconic Clothing                                                                                                                                                                             August 2019 - May 2024

Business Owner

Independent clothing company that began generating success early. The first line sold out of nearly all products creating opportunity for total revenue to reach approximately 396% of the initial investment. The target audience for the line was primarily young adults that were reached using word of mouth advertising as its main advertising platform with SEO optimization and targeted social media advertisements as help.

Self Employed                                                                                                                                                                                                               2015 - 2019

Seasonal landscaping and maintenance for various commercial properties. Services include lawn maintenance, semi-skilled landscaping, and landscape repairs.
